Lawrence Berkeley National Labs

LBNL conducted a test of Enterprise Energy Management (EEM) systems that can automatically react to an internet-based energy price signal. WebGen's IUE system was one of the systems that successfully participated in this test. We at LBNL see IUE's information infrastructure as quite sophisticated and unique when compared to other technology platforms we have evaluated. It is useful to differentiate between basic and intelligent curtailment systems, such as IUE, and their respective actions.

While saving energy is a goal, comfort and legal considerations are also considered; WebGen's IUE has integrated these factors into their system. IUE was the first system that was ready for the LBNL test, which is no surprise since it managed its first basic curtailment over three years ago at University of Miami, remotely and automatically turning off energy consuming devices. During the recent test, WebGen's IUE automatically reacted to the price signals with measurable demand reduction. LBNL is excited about the test results and will soon release a full technical report.
